Scientists Develop Bee-Saving Food Supplement
Colombian scientists from Rosario University, in collaboration with the University of Arizona and Universidad Javeriana, have developed a groundbreaking plant-based food supplement that shields bees' brains from pesticide-induced neurological damage. Bees, vital pollinators for ecosystems and food production, face severe threats from agricultural chemicals, which harm their motor systems and memory.
This innovative supplement, rich in flavonoids, helps bees cope with neurotoxins by boosting their brain protection, allowing them to thrive despite pesticide exposure. Professor Andre Riveros explains that this nutritional solution could be key to saving bee populations worldwide.
The research, currently in testing at a university apiary, is expected to boost bees’ resilience to pesticides in real-world agricultural settings. Continued efforts are being made to further improve the supplement’s effectiveness in safeguarding the health of these essential pollinators.
